Robert Herring is the owner and founder of One America News Network, commonly referred to as OANN. Herring is a businessman who started his career in the printing industry before branching out into cable television. In 2013, he launched OANN as a right-leaning alternative to what he perceived as the liberal bias of other cable news networks. Under Herring’s leadership, OANN has grown rapidly, reaching nearly 50 million households as of 2019. The network has been criticized for its close ties to the Trump administration and for its promotion of conspiracy theories and fake news.

One America News is a far-right cable channel that is owned by Herring Networks, Inc. The channel provides news coverage from a conservative perspective, and its programming includes media appearances by right-wing commentators and politicians.

The channel is routinely criticized for its biased and false reporting, and has been labeled as “propaganda” by some media observers. OAN’s main competitor is Fox News, which also has a significant presence on cable news.

One America News Network has been described as “pro-Trump” and as promoting right-wing conspiracy theories. In September 2019, The Washington Post wrote that OANN had a track record of “spreading falsehoods and promoting conspiracy theories”. According to the Post, OANN is “one of the most fervent promoters of the president’s false assertions about voter fraud in the 2016 election”, and has pushed the conspiracy theory that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was part of a secret cabal working against Trump.

The Future

1A is a fast-growing network with a lot of potential. So far, it has been able to fulfill its promise of being a more conservative alternative to the mainstream media. But who owns this network, and what does the future hold for it?

Plans for Growth

One America News Network has been on the air for four years and in that time has become a favorite among conservatives and Republicans. The network is available in 35 million homes and its programming is carried by AT&T, DirecTV, Dish Network, Comcast, Cox, Sling TV, and a number of other cable and satellite providers.

Now, the network is looking to expand its reach even further.

In an interview with The Hill, OANN president Charles Herring said that the network is in talks with a number of potential partners about launching a 24-hour news channel on one of the major cable TV providers.

Herring declined to name any potential partners, but said that the talks are at a “very high level.”

If One America News Network is able to launch a 24-hour channel, it would be a major coup for the relatively young network. Currently, OANN is only available in about 35 million homes. A 24-hour channel on one of the major cable providers would put it in tens of millions more homes.

Herring said that the network is also looking to expand its digital offerings. OANN already has a presence on YouTube and social media, but Herring said that the network is looking to do more. He said that OANN is working on launching a new website and apps for mobile devices.

Potential Challenges

Even if OANN can attract a loyal following, it will still have to reckon with the same issues that have hampered other cable news networks. For one, the U.S. advertising market is still dominated by a handful of companies, and it’s not clear that they will want to put their money behind a channel with such a small footprint. In addition, the cable and satellite distributors that actually get OANN into people’s homes are also consolidating, which could give them more power to influence which channels people can watch.
